Welcome to Jermuk, as we conclude the 2010 Women’s Grand Prix event.  Hearty congratulations are in order for the champion of Jermuk Grand Prix, the Georgian Nana Dzagnidze. Today, with the white pieces, and hardly out of the opening, she signed the peace with Yifan to clinch the championship, a tournament she led from the opening round until the end, finishing with an astounding undefeated 9 out of 11 possible points among a very competitive field.
Other results from round 11: Kosintseva – Danielian 0-1, Chiburdanidze – Stefanova 0-1, Fierro - Cramling 0-1, Kovanova - Mkrtchian 1/2-1/2, Yang - Yuhua 1/2-1/2. And the final standings follow:
1. Dzagnidze – 9, 2. Kosintseva – 7.5, 3- 5. Mkrtchian, Stefanova, Danielian – 6.5, 6.Yifan – 6, 7.- 8. Cramling, Yang – 5.5, 9. Chiburdanidze – 4.5, 10. Yuhua – 4, 11. Kovanova - 3.5, 12. Fierro – 1.5: more

Have you ever been in Armenia? What are your first impressions about the city of Jermuk?

Yes, I played in the Olympiad in Yerevan in 1996, but it is my first visit to Jermuk. I really like it, it is very peaceful and the local people are very kind and friendly.

Round 10 report

Welcome chess fans to coverage and commentary of the penultimate round of the Jermuk Grand Prix chess tournament.  The only decisive game of the round was seen in Cramling's win over Kovanova.  The other five games concluded with drawn results, basically keeping the leaderboard intact with only one round to go.
