Welcome to Jermuk, Armenia, chess fans! Thursday June 24th was the 1st round of the Women’s Grand Prix event in Jermuk, the same locale as last year’s Men event. The opening round was quite interesting, with tense struggles on many of the boards. Proof of the level of the competition was that only one draw was registered, while Black victories outnumbered those by White.
