Do you remember your first impressions about the city of Jermuk?
I have been in Jermuk many times but this is my first tournament here. I like here very much, very beautiful nature.
Which of the previous Grand Prix tournaments was more successful for you and what was the reason of it?
The first leg of Grand Prix held in Istanbul where I took the second place.
What expectations and objectives do you have from this tournament?
To exert in maximum and show deserved result.
All Grand Prix tournaments have rather strong participants. What can you say about the participants of this tournament? Do you think there are favorites?
Everybody from participants is equally deserving to win the tournament. There is no weak player here. Whoever's game is in sync, that one will win.
Which important traits do you appreciate in people? How do you want to see the world champion?
First of all I don’t like betrayal. I appreciate nobility and I expect to see this characteristic in a champion.
The Grand Prix men’s tournament was devoted to the 80th anniversary of the world champion Tigran Petrosian and this tournament is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the famous chess composer Genrikh Kasparian. Are you familiar with his creations?
I am familiar with his creations very well. I have spent considerable time solving them, something which has helped me to become stronger in the endgame. I would like to advise young chess-players to study compositions, especially those by G. Kasparian.
